Council recommended that staff install a quick-build chicane on Stormont Road to slow traffic.
"The main point of contention was that the data did not support the need for traffic calming, creating a 'precedent' for political intervention over evidence-based solutions. Proponents argued the chicane is a cheap, temporary solution to address ongoing resident concerns regarding pedestrian safety, shortcutting, and speeding near the elementary school, and serves as a useful pilot project for other neighborhoods. Councillors Kowalewich and MacKenzie opposed based on lack of data supporting the need over other streets."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT the Committee recommend to Council that a quick-build chicane be installed on Stormont Road as part of Capital Project N-081."
