Development Cost Charges Bylaw No. 1011, 2019

Governing BylawNo. 1011Active
Development Cost Charges Bylaw No. 1011, 2019Adopted 2019

This bylaw allows the Town of View Royal to collect development cost charges (DCCs) from developers. These charges help the town pay for the capital costs of providing services like sewage, water, drainage, roads, and parkland that are needed because of new development. Anyone who is building or subdividing land in View Royal may be required to pay these charges when they get a building permit or subdivision approval. The amount of the charge depends on the type of development (e.g., detached residential, multi-family residential, commercial, or institutional) and the size of the development. Certain types of development are exempt from DCCs, such as very small projects (under $50,000) or small self-contained dwelling units. The money collected through DCCs ensures that new development contributes to the cost of infrastructure needed to support it.
