A BYLAW TO ACCEPT PAYMENT IN LIEU OF PARKING SPACE REQUIREMENTS

  1. This Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as "Payment In Lieu of Parking Bylaw 853".

Definitions

  1. For the purpose of this Bylaw the following words have the following meanings:

"Town" means the Town of View Royal.

"Parking Space" means a dedicated space set aside for the purpose of parking a motor vehicle.

Payment In Lieu of Parking

In all zones except single-family or two-family zones, the owner or occupier of the land, building or structure may, in lieu of providing the total number of parking spaces as required by Town regulations for a given use, pay to the Town the amount of $12,000 for each parking space varied from those required in Town regulations for that use.

This option is available only if the variance to the required parking is approved by Town of View Royal Council.

If this option is taken, the owner or occupier of the land, building or structure must also pay an additional $10,000 per reduced parking space if the Town owns and operates an off-street parking facility within 250 metres of the land, building or structure for which the parking spaces are required.
