SUBJECT: COUNCIL - Advertising Public Information Meetings
PURPOSE: To establish guidelines for publishing public information notices in the newspapers for meetings Council deems to be of particular public interest.
POLICY:
For meetings that Council deems to be of particular public interest, the following advertisements will be published: a) Goldstream Gazette display ad for the Wednesday issue prior to the scheduled meeting; b) Times Colonist display ad in the paper one week (seven days) prior to the scheduled meeting; c) Notice of meeting posted on the Notice Board of the Town Hall one week (seven days) prior to the scheduled meeting; and d) Notice of the meeting posted on the website one week (seven days) prior to the scheduled meeting.
If the meeting is not scheduled at least one week (seven days) in advance of the established meeting time, the advertisement will be placed in the next available issue of the Gazette and Times Colonist.
This advertisement is in addition to the Municipal ad that is placed in the Goldstream Gazette on the Wednesday prior to the scheduled Council meeting and the Times Colonist Municipal Section of the Sunday paper.
