BC Transit Island Highway Victoria Corridor Concepts

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT the Committee receives the report, for information.

CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER'S COMMENTS:

I concur with the recommendation.

PURPOSE OF REPORT:

To update the Committee on the concepts that BC Transit are considering for implementation for the Island Highway transit corridor to improve their operations.

BACKGROUND:

In May of 2013 BC Transit provided Council with an update on various concepts that BC Transit were considering to improve operations. Within View Royal two intersections were explored to receive Queue jumping treatments.

  1. Island Highway and the Six Mile Intersection
  2. Island Highway and the Colwood Interchange

PROJECT INFORMATION:

Several options and concepts were reviewed throughout the Greater Victoria region. As part of the concept evaluation, the following criteria will be used to evaluate the options:

  • Transportation Efficiency
  • Community Impacts
  • Environmental Impacts
  • Costs
  • Benefits
  • Benefit to Cost Relationship
  • Major Risks to project Costs

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT the Committee receives the report, for information.
