Re: Pedestrian Activated Crosswalk Burnett Rd / Old Island Highway

I am writing to ask that consideration be given to the installation of a Pedestrian-activated crosswalk at the above location. This would provide a safe and secure access from Burdett to the Public Trail which passes by the future View Royal Fire Department and Public Safety Building. At present, I travel this route often to access Newstead Park where my grandsons enjoy playing. Also, it is a wonderful vantage point (the Public Trail) to view the construction site for the Fire Hall.

While walking along Burdett Road it is evident that many people (seems like visitors from other countries) use this road to access the Old Island Highway and need to cross over to take the bus to town (Victoria).

My neighbours first introduced me to this pleasant route when I joined them a while ago on their 'constitutional walk'.

It can be very difficult to cross at Burdett / Old Island Highway to walk this trail and gain access to the water side of the Highway and a Pedestrian Activated crosswalk would be very beneficial.

I would ask that consideration to my request be made when the traffic adjustment work is being done to accommodate the Firehall access.
