Dear View Royal Council,
Thank you for considering this staff report and advancing our initial suggestion of considering a pride painted crosswalk near View Royal Elementary School. We support these options as they will contribute towards creating a safe, inclusive and diverse community. We can appreciate the considerations for not altering the recently upgraded crosswalk and agree that adding a new crosswalk at Rudyard at Helmcken would have traffic calming and safety benefits, in addition to the diversity and inclusion benefits so we are strongly supportive of this particular option. If this work is advanced we would suggest working closely with school and district administration so they can provide their valuable feedback and also communicate to the school community about the project. Lastly, when discussing this at budget deliberations we suggest any upcoming crosswalk repainting/improvements near the school that pride or other special interests opportunities be considered in advance.
