RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the Committee receives this report for information;
CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER’S COMMENTS:
I concur with the recommendation.
PURPOSE OF REPORT:
To update the Committee on the operations of the Building and Bylaw Department.
BUILDING:
For the past couple of months the Building Department has kept busy with both residential and large commercial project under construction within the Town.
Large projects such as Eagle Creek, 1900 Watkiss Way, Ashley Furniture as well as 430 Six Mile Road have been rapidly progressing and relationships with each developer are in good standing.
Smaller commercial and residential projects have also gone through the permit process and are currently underway throughout the Town. New builds, tenant improvements and several additions and renovations have been contributing to the busy summer season. The Building Department has worked diligently with each Builder and Owner to provide support and good working relationships.
In addition the Building Department has investigated new methods of tracking permits and conducting inspections and will follow shortly with a report to Council in hopes of furthering the commitment to stronger customer service.
