1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Tobias called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m.
The Mayor acknowledged that this meeting is being held on the traditional territory of the Songhees Nation and Esquimalt Nation.

- Report dated March 6, 2024 from the Director of Protective Services The Director of Protective Services discussed grant applications and bylaw calls. Council discussed content for the extreme heat map project and inquired about statistics from the prior year in the bylaw report for comparison.

a) 2024 Grants in Aid
- Report dated March 7, 2024 from the Director of Finance Council discussed funding for the school crossing guard program at View Royal Elementary and Eagle View Elementary, including the need to possibly set aside funds from Grants in Aid despite not having received an application from School District No. 61.
The Director of Corporate Administration/Deputy CAO stated that the Town is awaiting a draft Memorandum of Understanding, that is in progress, with the School District. The Director of Finance & Technology confirmed funds for school crossing guards were not otherwise included in the 2024 budget and noted that a fee for service would typically be funded through taxation.

J. Devonshire introduced the presenters, K. Josephson and A. Daniel, on behalf of the View Royal Climate Coalition. K. Josephson recapped his mapping involvement and promoted the project. A. Daniel gave a presentation regarding the community-based mapping initiative and invited collaboration in promoting interactive research.
Council discussed modelling, natural assets inventory, and local data collection and verification.

9.4.4 New Business
a) Six Mile Roundabout Multi-Use Path – Councillor Rogers Councillor Rogers expressed concern regarding the multi-use path at the Six Miles Roundabout, specifically the potential for collisions between the various modes of transportation using the multi-use path.
The Director of Engineering confirmed the roundabout has gone through a stringent approval process, adheres to all Canadian engineering design standards and requirements, and ICBC has shown no conflicts.
