CHANGE THE CHANNELIZED RIGHT TURN LANE TO A “HARD CORNER”
Intersections all over town are going to single lanes and “hard corners’ to improve pedestrian and cycling safety. The current cycling lane requires skill and nerves of steel… not friendly, comfortable or enabling for “all ages and abilities”. Traffic congestion has another available route…. TCH.

Design in 2024. Shelf ready to be combined with Admirals Active Transportation bike lane etc. project
REQUEST FOR FURTHER PUBLIC CONSULTATION / COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Invite comment / support from First Nations, and SD61 for improved safety for children. As well from pedestrians and cyclists in the area

Active Transportation Plan recommends this as a critical safety improvement for cyclists (all ages and abilities) using Island Highway to go into town

Will encourage commuting drivers from West Shore to stay on TCH and use McKenzie Interchange and down Admirals to / from Esquimalt … not through View Royal
