Proposal to acquire and store hardened hardware for essential water distribution after a disaster.
COUNCIL INITIATIVE
SUBMITTED BY MAYOR/COUNCILLOR
JOHN ROGERS
PROJECT NAME
“DROP KIT” FOR POST DISASTER WATER DISTRIBUTION
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
CRD has spent thousands for three “hardened hydrants” to assist communities in providing essential water to residents. Canadian Tire, Westshore Parks and VGH… Canadian Tire serves many residents and our First Nations clients who contract with us for protective services.
CRD resources will be VERY limited and we need to help ourselves… be self-sufficient. Many apartments / Condos no longer have NO space to store 48 hours of water.
The hard ware should be stored around Canadian Tire … not at the firehall when the bridges go down.
PROJECT LOCATION
Canadian Tire, VGH, Westshore Parks… we only need to focus on Canadian Tire
