Whereas the majority of council has expressed their support for a minimum of 10% ‘affordable’ housing in all multifamily developments (rental and condos) But Council has not made any progress in this direction in the past year,
Therefore be it resolved that all rezoning proposals for multifamily development greater than 9 units require 10% of those units to be ‘affordable’ (as established under View Royal bylaw); this requirement will be in effect once this motion is passed and will affect for all proposals not already in-stream (where a formal proposal has been submitted to View Royal). No bonus-density will be provided for meeting this requirement as it is a mandatory requirement).
