Purpose of UDI:

  • Support industry professionals and affiliates with the information, education and representation they need to thrive in the Region’s local development industry.
  • Support and represent strong relationships with government, media and the public.
  • Work with communities and governments to build balanced, well-planned, sustainable communities through thoughtful urban planning, steady growth, and responsible development practices, improving affordable housing and job opportunities within the local industry.

Membership benefits:

  • remain informed of policy changes at all levels of government;
  • receive information on current market trends and projections;
  • network and build partnerships with industry professionals
  • attend professional development opportunities, some of which are only available to members
  • establish UDI liaison group made up of local stakeholders and department heads to discuss emerging issues and how UDI may be able to assist with policy initiatives and provide feedback;
  • promote engagement events through the UDI network; and
  • transparency to all stakeholders represented by the varied membership of UDI.

  • The annual UDI membership fee is $600.00.
  • In the past 13 years, UDI lobbying has never been recorded or recognized as part of a Council Agenda.

  1. Capital Region: Capital Regional District, City of Langford, City of Colwood, District of Sooke, Township of Esquimalt, Town of View Royal, District of Oak Bay and the City of Victoria.
  2. Pacific Region: City of Port Moody, City of Delta, Village of Pemberton, City of Campbell River, City of Coquitlam, City of Langley, City of Maple Ridge, City of Surry, City of New Westminster, City of North Vancouver, District of North Vancouver, Metro Vancouver, and Township of Langley
  3. Fraser Valley: City of Chilliwack and City of Abbotsford
  4. Okanagan: District of Summerland, District of Peachland, City of Kelowna, City of Vernon, City of Penticton, City of West Kelowna, District of Lake Country.

*Currently, 30 regional and local government members of UDI in the Province.
