Dear Mr. Major and members of the council,
You have received an email regarding concerns around this development proposal from Susan Presho (who is also my wife) and I wish to reiterate that those concerns and questions are also mine.
Having listened in diligently on almost all council meetings (mostly by phone…) of this council I find it very disconcerting how council as a whole and members in particular flip-flop their stance and vote when it comes to big developments in the community and which “standards” to apply. From all I understand it is the 2011 OCP that provides the guiding principle, at least in theory. Why council discussions not reflect this is beyond me.
This proposal is WRONG on so many levels and does NOT provide TVR residents with ANY tangible benefits whatsoever, present and future. It does not - as planned - alleviate any of the housing/density concerns facing our community and BC in general. It’ll line the pockets of the developers, at the price of hardship to the community.
It should not be a developer to tell the community and council what’s good for it, but for the community and council to tell developers what we need. Should developers not like it, they can go somewhere else, and likely another developer will come and eventually comply with OUR requirements.
I am not against development, BUT it has to be in sustainable, socially responsible and IN-LINE with community standards and requirements.
This development proposal does not meet the standards we want.
To show that you care for TVR, please do not vote in favour of the proposal as is but for a better, more humane and sustainable TVR for our generation and those that follow!
