Re: Rock Slope Drapery and Local Rock Support Anchors
As requested, we have attended site periodically during the installation of the rock slope drapery to ensure such was carried out in conformance with the specifications provided in our design drawing package entitled Rock Wall/Soil Stabilization, dated March 2020. Our associated observations and comments are contained herein.
Prior to the installation of the drapery mesh and rock support anchors, the slope underwent a combination of hydro scaling and hand scaling to remove unstable rock which was carried out under the direct supervision of Ryzuk Geotechnical.
During rock scaling, 6 rock support anchor locations were identified to secure potential failure planes and consisted of #8 Galvanized threadbar, embedded a minimum of 3 m into competent rock. Anchor heads consisted of galvanized plates and nuts which were successfully stress tested to 60% of the yield strength (160 kN) then locked-off at 120 kN.
Suspension cable support anchors consisting of #14 Galvanized threadbar were installed along the crest of the slope with local auxiliary tie back anchors up and beyond the slope crest. Deltax mesh by Geobrugg was used with suitable overlap between adjacent sections.
Based on our observations during installation, we consider the anchors and drapery to have been installed in conformance with our recommendations and design, however the enclosed catchment area below will need to be installed before the system is considered complete.
We trust the above is suitable for your purposes at present. If you have any questions, or require further clarification, please call.
Regards, Ryzuk Geotechnical
