Mayor and Council……I was shocked to learn that you are considering allowing "overnight sheltering". I understand that the Courts have allowed and encourage this practice and look at the issues this has caused.
In our neighbourhood we have ongoing issues with theft and other issues that the RCMP CAN NOT deal with. The problems have escalated since the opening of the Rex Welland orchard as individuals see this as access to the neighbourhood off the "Goose" also known as the Galloping Getaway.
I would hope that Council will evaluate the allowed parks and assume that funds will be available for cleanup, needle pickup, fire suppression and all the other things connected to this issue.
We have already had issues in the orchard with individuals causing problems and yes we have given several individuals the boot before they set up camp, What about the little park on the corner of Tawny and Stancil in the middle of a nice residential area…..Again , please consider carefully what you are proposing, the Mounties can not deal with the issues they have now and here we are informing these folks that camping is available in our parks.
I implore you to evaluate this issue carefully……if this is passed I would ask that you visit a restriction policy immediately for such parks as Welland Orchard, our little park on the corner and other like parks through our town.
More money set aside just to erect no camping signs?
Thank you……and I remain deeply concerned.
