Dear City Council,

Please find attached our revised application for a variance permit for the retaining wall at 240 Helmcken rd. We have taken into consideration the suggestions made by the city planner and have planned to install a fence 1 m away from the retaining wall for the front section, and are proposing an open safety rail for the back portion (where the neighbours have their garden sheds.) The 2nd option is to bring the fence back 1 meter as in the front section.

We have also had extensive conversations with our neighbours to ensure that their property will be beautified as well and have offered to purchase California Lilac or a cedar hedge, for the portion of the wall that is adjacent to the part of their backyard that is in use. We are currently waiting for their response in choice of plants, in order to purchase the plants for them.

We hope that you will re-consider our application, given the modifications we have made to our plans to align our design closer to city bylaws.

We thank you for your time and assistance in rendering our lot safer and more secure.

Sincerely,

Catherine & Nathanaël Lisimaque

240 Helmcken rd.
