Mayor and Council,

Please find attached a brief proposal for the implementation of Bylaws that would allow the West Shore Detachment to charge fees for the release of information through our Disclosure services.

West Shore is among the few Detachments that do not charge for our Disclosure services and we request to bring our practices in line with our fellow police agencies. It is the West Shore Detachment’s belief that the potential revenue generated from the establishment of a fee schedule would directly benefit the City.

Included in the attachment are examples of established fee schedules for other policing agencies as set out in their respective Municipal Bylaws. A draft proposed fee schedule for West Shore Detachment has been included.

We respectively request your consideration of this matter.

Sincerely,

Insp Todd Preston Officer in Charge West Shore RCMP Detachment
