Dear Mayor Screech and Councillors,

I write about a soon-to-be proposed development at 231 Heddle Ave. The property consists of a single family home on 1.113 acres, and is situated at the dead-end of Heddle Ave. Developers purchased the property in September 2017. Late last year, developers held an introductory meeting for those of us who reside nearby about the proposed development. The proposal includes a nine-unit townhome complex, with each townhome having a two-car garage.

Heddle Ave is a quiet residential street with nine single-family homes and a small children’s playground that is used daily by local families. As a resident of Heddle Ave., I am strongly opposed to a development of this nature being approved in this neighbourhood. There were many others in attendance at the developer’s meeting who are also against the development. I am not opposed to all development in View Royal, but it has to be the right kind of development, given the community. This is not the right kind of development for Heddle Ave.

A development of this size, which will double the number of homes and add 18 or more vehicles on the street, would drastically impact the neighbourhood. It will generate traffic safety concerns, implications for playground use, and generally change the peaceful and cohesive feel of the street. Additionally, approval of a development of this nature would set a dangerous precedent for the neighbourhood.

I implore you to vote against this proposal when it is introduced to Town Hall.

Sincerely,

Ardys Baker 251 Heddle Ave
