Greetings Pat,

My apologies for my tardiness in responding to you.

I do not have a lot of neighbours on my list from the upper end of View Royal, and although I am certain many of the neighbours on my list will support you, I believe it would be unlikely their support would be useful if they are not affected by the parking issue you cite.

I have however taken the liberty of copying this email (with yours) to Ron Mattson, who is a Council Member (and also a neighbour), to apprise him of your issue/concerns, and in hopes that he might be able to assist/guide you further.

From your description, it seems the parking situation at least in the immediate vicinity of you could well be a safety concern, and accordingly, I would be quite surprised that you might need more than the support of the By-Law Officer to move your suggestion forward (although signage suggesting "Residential Parking Only” might be more palatable than “No Parking”).

Please advise if I might offer further comment.

Best Regards & Best Wishes for the Holiday Season! - Chris

Hi Chris, I'm writing this email hoping to gather a little support from our neighbours around non-residents parking on the road along the upper part of View Royal Ave. It seems that the Four Mile Pub is often overbooked and don't provide enough parking spaces on their lot. At the same time, the Town Hall put a notice not to park in their lot between 8 am and 5 pm. Consequently, patrons park all along the road, which at the top is quite narrow, especially outside my driveway on 53 View Royal. Waste pickup trucks, and recycling trucks barely squeeze through, and I don't think a fire truck would get through at all if vehicles were parked along there. I sometimes have difficulty getting out of my driveway, and am also concerned about my physical safety when walking along that part of the road.

I would like to see some No Parking signs along the top part of View Royal Ave. I have spoken to the Bylaw Officer many times and he agrees this is necessary. He suggested that people who live in the area and are concerned about this issue make it known to the View Royal Council. Apparently once Council is aware, he (Bylaw Officer) will let Council know how many tickets he has given for unsafe parking.

Would you kindly forward this email to the folks on your contact list? My hope is that if there is enough support, Council will see the need for some new signage.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Thanks, Pat M.
