Correspondence from a resident regarding a warning ticket for parking on Chilco Rd and concerns over high-density housing approvals without parking.

My son received a warning ticket for parking in the residential parking area on Chilco Rd yesterday. This is about 100 metres from our residence on Nursery Hill Dr, given there is no other parking in the area (outside of an area just down the road where he received the warning where about 8 cars fit) and recently the Thetis overflow rules were changed to prohibit overnight parking and the previously available parking on Nursery Hill rd was eliminated for some reason. This leaves about 8 spots to park for what will soon be 8 different condo buildings. Is it possible to get a resident parking pass or what is the towns plans for this parking crunch in this area?
As it stands right now it is difficult for anyone to have visitors, there is no parking within walking distance (except the 8 or so at the bottom of Chilco) and the town keeps approving more high density housing. Our neighborhood is not downtown, we don’t have all amenities within walking distance so cars are required.
Perhaps the Thetis overflow can be adapted to a neighborhood parking lot with a resident permit? Something definitely needs to happen. High density housing (condos) pay a lot more taxes based on their footprint and deserve to be treated as part of the neighborhood which includes the ability to park our cars or our visitors car. We are starting a resident based lobby to deal with this issues and others.
