Dear Mayor and Council Members of View Royal,

I am writing to you today in regards to my concerns with the crosswalks at the roundabout of the Emergency entrance at VGH and Eagle Creek Village entrance.

I am a resident of View Royal and I work at the View Royal Surgical Centre. I walk to work along Watkiss Way, which is a whole other safety concern with the non-existent sidewalk that I will also be emailing Saanich about.

I start early in the morning so of course it is dark out, but I am almost hit by a car every morning. I always make sure to stop and wait for the cars to see me before I step foot into the crosswalk, but I find the cars are driving so fast and not paying attention that they have to either slam on their brakes or I have to jump back out of the way.

I am asking that you please consider putting in some flashing lights at the 4 crosswalks that are at the roundabout. For such a busy intersection, pedestrian safety should be more of a priority.

I look forward to hearing from you
