RE: rezoning to change a Park to an industrial site operating from 4:30 a.m. to 11 pm daily with 90 -115 buses being parked and maintained?
Since retiring 3 years ago, I have been working with Esquimalt Angler’s as a volunteer Streamkeeper on Craigflower Creek.
Esquimalt Angler’s club members have been working on Craigflower Creek since 1946 (72 Years) to insure that returning salmon would have a clean creek to spawn in each fall. In 2014 over 1800 Coho - (Highest Number Ever) where counted at the counting fence located right behind Choices, not far from the proposed HandyDART location.
Craigflower Creek is reasonably healthy but any additional runoff off fron an industrial workyard could change this instantly.
Having 100 plus buses being maintained and parked right next to a salmon bearing Creek could kill Craigflower Creek.
An Oil Spill of any size would be impossible to contain.
Please find another location far away from this very important Creek.
If you want to voice your concerns, please attend the Meeting on May 8 at 7 PM at View Royal City Hall.
To anyone who reads this - pass it on. We need to save Craigflower Creek.
