PURPOSE OF REPORT:
To present the final report from Ben Gourley of Macdonald & Lawrence Timber Framing with respect to the restoration works completed to date on the lime kiln on Hart Road.
BACKGROUND:
Council provided a grant in 2014 to Macdonald & Lawrence to complete restoration works on the base of the lime kiln located on Town property on Hart Road.
DISCUSSION:
Over the past 18 months a variety of conservation activities have occurred on the site. These activities are documented in the attached report (Appendix 1). The report also outlines the process and materials used, the research undertaken, the involvement of students from the Cultural Resource Management Program at the University of Victoria. The report also highlights additional/future steps that may be undertaken to continue the restoration of the material remnant of early industrial history in the Town of View Royal.
