With the inclement weather in late November and December, Bylaw Enforcement assisted the Engineering Department with educating the public in regards to clearing of sidewalks.

An information session was held at the public safety building with representatives from View Royal, Colwood, Esquimalt, Queen’s Harbor Master, Department of National Defence, Military Police, RCMP, Victoria, and the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations to discuss the transient population that is currently occupying Selkirk Waterway and their removal by the City of Victoria. The Town of View Royal Bylaw Enforcement has been proactive and has been cooperating with the RCMP and Harbor Master. The group heard how City of Victoria will be going about the removal of these vessels and discussed options if these vessels move to the Esquimalt Harbor.

Planning will begin the end of January for the 40 Days of Life Vigil to be held March 1 to April 9, 2017. At this time vigils will be held in three cities - Terrace, Vancouver and Victoria.

2017 will also see the introduction of the Watch Guard Vista body camera to be worn by Building and Bylaw staff when dealing with members of the public.
