VIEW ROYAL EV CHARGING STATIONS UPDATE
PURPOSE
To update the Committee of the Whole on the current usage of the Town’s two EV Charging stations as user fee charges have been in place since March 12, 2022

TIMELINE
- Installation in 2019 – Free Usage
- January 18, 2022 Council Meeting – User Fee Charges Approved
C-01-22:
THAT the charging of parking fees at Town owned and operated electric vehicle charging stations be approved;
AND THAT a fee of $1.00 per hour for the first three hours and $2.00 per hour thereafter be implemented;
AND FURTHER THAT staff prepare a bylaw amendment to the Fees and Charges Bylaw No. 958, 2016 to reflect the newly established fees.

- Extrapolated Annual Revenue less than $500 per year
- Excludes internal administration, monitoring and maintenance costs
CONCLUSION
- Current data currently shows a usage trend that is relatively similar to usage prior to user fee charges
- Extrapolating the data shows net revenues after fees, taxes and energy costs and staffing time will be minimal
- Recommended to continue to monitor usage to obtain an accurate picture of any change in usage
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the report titled “View Royal EV Charging Stations Update” dated June 8, 2022 from the Director of Engineering be received for information
