Letter of Support

Dear Town of View Royal,

I am writing in support of the View Royal Elementary Parent Advisory Committee's (PAC) Grants-in-Aid application for the school walkathon and community picnic and celebration on Friday, May 29, 2026.

The 2026 Walkathon is a key fundraiser for our new playground project, with an estimated total cost of $140,000. To date, we have raised nearly $15,000. View Royal Elementary currently has only one playground—one of the few schools in the Victoria School District in this position—and an additional playground will enhance accessibility, enjoyment, and opportunities for our students and families for years to come. Playground improvements will also benefit the greater View Royal community, with school play equipment serving as a valuable piece of community infrastructure for View Royal residents to enjoy outside of school hours throughout the year.

The event will include a school-wide walkathon during the day, with students gathering pledges from friends, families and neighbours. PAC representatives will be reaching out to local businesses requesting support and donations towards the playground. Following the afternoon student and staff walkathon, we are planning an evening community celebration to bring together the View Royal community to acknowledge the efforts of students and staff and invite community members for a fun evening of connection, food and music. This event will foster school spirit, strengthen community connections, and provide a positive, engaging experience for our students.

To ensure the event's success, we are requesting Council's support to help cover associated event costs, including printing, activities, a completion event pin for each student and refreshments for students. Your contribution will directly support our students while reinforcing the Town's commitment to community well-being.
