Hi there
I am writing about my disappointment in this council around the bike lane/lack of parking on Erskine Lane. The decision to add objects to create a protected bike lane was a personal action, not based on an informed approach. There are a few reasons why I truly believe this. First if a proper survey had been sent out to residents of view royal, with adequate advertising, I feel council would have received feedback that parking is needed. Second, why does parking have to be all or nothing? There could have been evenings where parking along Erskine Lane was allowed. Third, there are 3 other access points to the Galloping Goose within 1 km of Erskine Lane. Plus we are on a hill and I would bet this bike lane does not get used in the winter often. Why does there need to be a 4th access point? Hoping future council will ensure they are well informed and make a decision that is inclusive of ALL residents of view royal, not just cyclists.
Another frustration. On three separate occasions, I have seen cyclists not use the protected bike lane and instead, they are biking in the roadway. Clearly not all cyclists feel a the protected bike lane is required and not using it, an unfortunate waste of money.
