Partnership: Royal Roads University (RRU) and the Town of View Royal
Purpose: This project engages senior Bachelor of Business Administration students specializing in Innovation and Sustainability to assess the feasibility of establishing a public market in View Royal. The goal is to identify opportunities for a unique, viable, and community-focused market that supports local farmers, producers, and artisans.
Project Overview: Over a four-week period between March 15 and April 9, 2027, a class of 12–15 undergraduate students will work in teams to analyze community input, research comparable markets, engage stakeholders, and evaluate potential municipal sites for a public market in View Royal.
Value to View Royal: The project provides evidence-based analysis, innovative ideas, and actionable recommendations to inform decision-making on a potential public market. It also offers access to diverse student perspectives, research insights, and community-informed planning at no financial cost to the municipality.
Key Activities:
- View Royal will collect community survey data to identify needs, preferences, and opportunities.
- Students will research and interview market operators and subject matter experts to identify best practices and gaps.
