WRITTEN SUBMISSION REGARDING THE PROPOSED BYLAW CHANGES TO 1801 ADMIRALS ROAD
- 1801 Admirals Road is situated at the intersection of what has become perhaps the busiest traffic congestion area on Vancouver Island. This traffic problem will be compounded by the increased volume that will result from the new Christie Point development once it has been completed.
- The parking area assigned to that property will not be extensive and the need for parking will undoubtedly impact side streets in its vicinity eg Brigadoon Place. This can already be seen when there are major events at either the Manor House or Shoreline School.
- The concept of a community centre that will benefit the neighbourhood seems to us to be an invalid argument in that there is a community school close by which already performs this function. The proposal offers nothing new to the area, but appears to us as a money making venue for the Scottish Society.
- The proposed new community centre is completely out of character with a mid-nineteenth century farmhouse museum. Although only one storey in height, it will dwarf Craigflower Manor and detract from the impact of a fine heritage building.
