I live in the Stoneridge Development just off Watkiss Way, very close to the proposed Therapeutic Recovery Community location. I attended the open house and information session at this location last night (June 12) and was very impressed with the plans for the facility and the presentation of information by Don Evans, Executive Director of Our Place, Dana Young, Director of the proposed Therapeutic Recovery Community and Davin Holmes, successful graduate of the therapeutic recovery program at Guthrie House in Nanaimo.
I am 100% in support of this proposed plan and am extremely confident that the program will be run exceptionally well and that the impact of this recovery community will have little to no negative impact on my neighbourhood or the quality of life that I have come to enjoy since moving into View Royal two years ago. In fact, when I first heard of this plan some months ago, I was really happy that FINALLY a therapeutic recovery program might be implemented on Vancouver Island. I wish Don Evans, Dana Young, Our Place and the future residents of this new community much success!
Thank you Mayor and Council for allowing me to weigh in on this matter and for seriously considering this incredibly important proposal.
