Hello Mayor and Council:
I would like to add my name in support of the Recovery Center. Basically, it is a facility that will support, educate and retrain individuals who meet the guidelines for therapeutic recovery.
Those that achieve the goals will be employable and will become taxpaying contributors to society. Some may grow to “give back”, mentor or become volunteers.
Being employed allows personal satisfaction, a sense of purpose and being a productive member of the community. The $24 million building will be safe, secure and be a beneficial asset with good paying salaries. The youth detention centre became obsolete as youth crime dropped. Hopefully, the Recovery Center will have the same positive outcome. As there is an need for rehabilitation, Our Place Society offers a first step to Hope, a cooperative positive move, a path to employment and a personal goal for a better life.
It will reduce the health care costs and promote attitudes for personal growth.
Thank you Mayor and Council for offering an opportunity that gives individuals a better alternative life than crime on the streets or sleeping in our Parks.
