Re: Therapeutic Recovery Community - REZ 3360-020-2018-05

This letter offers the support of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce for the proposed Therapeutic Recovery Community at 94 Talcott Road, View Royal.

The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce is the largest business association in Greater Victoria, with more than 1,400 member organizations. In 2018, one of our advocacy priorities is the need for a Safe Community, which is the foundation we all require to function in our daily lives, and in our businesses.

Our region is seeing a growing number of people on our streets because they are unable to overcome mental illness, substance abuse and addiction problems. This population can be disruptive to business and effect the reputation of the entire community.

The Chamber supports the work that Our Place Society does. We believe a Therapeutic Recovery Community will be a safe, structured, longer-term therapeutic environment critically needed to provide the opportunity for a better future to participants and help ensure we can all continue to live and work in a safe community.

Catherine Holt CEO, Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce
