Mayor and Council

The Juan De Fuca 55 Plus Seniors Centre is unique in the Greater Victoria Area. It has 1200 active members who take part in over ninety different activities which are free to members. These classes are taught by other members who volunteer their time each week.

The centre does not have operating funds since Membership Dues go directly to the West Shore Parks and Recreation to pay for the utilities and maintenance of the building. The centre earns it operating monies in various ways and runs entirely on Volunteers. In the past Members raised $650,000 from 2001 to 2010 to help pay for the new addition and equipment required

The centre's 18 passenger bus is 12 years old and needs to be replaced since the flooring is rotting causing rust to the frame bolts. The Bus is an integral part of the centre and there are approx. 240 passengers each month going to walking trails, singing at care units, day outings weekly, class visits to the Arts, Museums and the Theatres. With this in mind we are launching a 'Buy a Bus' project.

Would you consider being a sponsor or making a donation towards the bus for our West Shore Seniors? We would be happy to publically recognise you with a logo of sponsorship. We are proud of our West shore Communities and hope to keep our seniors healthy, active and part of this community.

We would like to be included on your next council meeting agenda. Thank you

Evelyn Woodward President JDF 55 Plus Seniors Centre
