RE: File No.: 3060-20-2011/12 "Town of View Royal Notice of Processing an Application for a Development Permit With Variances"
Dear Mayor and Council,
Regarding the application for the development permit with variances for the 24 unit residential development at 231,235, 237A,237B,241 Island Hwy:
I am in opposition to the building height variances being requested. The defined height limit for this newly rezoned land of 10 metres is quite adequate to support a townhouse design that is attractive, functional and marketable. I know of many fine 3 level townhouse designs that are just 9 metres in height.
10 metres is already a height significantly higher than neighbouring property structures'. The additional height being requested is considerable - up to 41%. This additional height would result in a form that is very much out of character with the neighbourhood. It would also result in unacceptable skyline view interruptions and shading of nearby properties.
Please do not authorize these height variances.
Sincerely,
Ron Steer
