Hi All.
I am a resident of Island highway (160 A Island highway), Infront of the property to be rezoned. I want to voice my opinion that the proposed rezoning and subsequent apartment development will significantly increase the density(human and vehicle). The road leading to this property is on a high inclination (8 degree) and the current speed limit is high ( 50 km/hr.) . These have lead to several accidents (I have witnessed 3 cars flipped with in 100 m distance and even I pulled a man from his vehicle). The fact that the speed is to high and the road is on elevation has three impacts:
- Increase accident
- Increased noise (trucks going east apply too much pressure on the gas pedal as they face going up)
- Increase environmental pollution
In principle I am not opposed the development but I would like the following aspects be considered:
- Build a round about Infront of the property on the island highway. This will reduce potential accidents, reduce speed, reduce noise and decrease environmental carbon print. Reduction of carbon foot print aligns with the municipal environmental policy
- OR decrease the speed limit to 30-40km/hr.
