Re: Zoning of #9 Erskine Lane
To whom it may concern,
Ten years ago I bought my first home in the beautiful little town of View Royal. Previously I lived in James Bay with close proximity to the shops, restaurants and my work downtown. When we moved to View Royal, I mourned the loss of my downtown neighbourhood with all the wonderful amenities and nightlife. We chose to buy a single dwelling in the Stoneridge development because we wanted a backyard for our children, an amicable co-existence with our neighbours without living below or above them and the community feel surrounded by ALR and walking trails.
My husband, Mathieu Powell, and I understand the need for rental units, but we feel that #9 Erskine is the wrong location for four apartment buildings. We own rental properties ourselves and as property managers we have dealt with the transient nature of tenants. Given that the #9 Erskine proposed development shares Erskine Lane with single family dwellings and townhouses, the scope and size of the development would significantly impact the neighbourhood. We support the need for urban densification and development. #9 Erskine would be an very suitable place to build much needed multi-family rental units such as townhouses.
Approving a development with 336 units and 300+ vehicles would effectively disrupt and likely destroy the family friendly atmosphere that ourselves and our neighbours have worked so hard to have.
Thank you for your consideration and time.
Sincerely,
Angela Provost and Mathieu Powell
