Dear Mayor Hill and Council

Congratulations to your worship the Mayor, to Council and to View Royal residents on this 25th Anniversary of View Royal’s incorporation. It is an honour for me to be the federal Member of Parliament representing your fine municipality.

Since View Royal became the Capital Regional District’s 10th municipality in 1988, your Town has seen impressive growth and succeeded in providing good services to its residents. A fitting marker of this quarter century commitment to quality services is the new Public Safety Building, which is rising on the Old Island Highway. For thousands of years the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations have lived on the land on which View Royal now sits, and your Mayors and Councils have worked hard to grow and enhance this relationship with First Nations, as well as relationships with your other municipal neighbours.

The Town’s objective is to be: “livable, green, sustainable.” In that spirit you have taken advantage of the Town’s natural beauty. Your Councils have capitalized on this asset with 29 Parks and 12 Shoreline access points for the public to enjoy and impressive improvements to enhance both the beauty and safety of your arterial roads.

The future looks bright for View Royal. Thanks to the hard work of this and previous Councils, the Town is well positioned as a safe, sustainable community in the heart of the Capital Regional District.

Congratulations again to the Mayor, Council, and View Royal residents. May the next 25 years be as successful and well managed as View Royal has been thus far and may the impressive community spirit you have fostered continue to thrive.
