GENERAL NOTES

  1. WATER MAINS SHALL BE PVC DR18 TO AWWA STANDARD C900.
  2. ALL WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CRD WATER SERVICES SPECIFICATIONS.
  3. THE MINIMUM WATER MAIN COVER SHALL BE 0.8m.
  4. FLUSHING & DISINFECTION SHALL BE PERFORMED BY AN APPROVED WATER SERVICES CONTRACTOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH CRD WATER SERVICES SPECIFICATIONS.
  5. ANY ROAD REINSTATEMENT TO THE TOWN OF VIEW ROYAL STANDARDS.
  6. REINSTATEMENT OF DRIVEWAYS, BOULEVARDS & LAWNS SHALL BE TO AS GOOD AS OR BETTER THAN BEFORE EXCAVATION.
  7. INSTALL MARKER TAPE OVER FULL LENGTH OF PIPE AT 0.3m DEPTH; CONTINUOUS WARNING TAPE, RED IN COLOUR, MARKED "CAUTION - WATER LINE BURIED BELOW".
  8. CONTROL LOCATION OF UTILITY/SERVICE BY HAND DIGGING PRIOR TO WATER MAIN INSTALLATION.
  9. REPLACE ALL 13mm (1/2") WATER SERVICES TO MINIMUM 19mm (3/4") WATER SERVICE.
  10. ALL STATIONS SHOWN ARE STA 0+000 STARTING FROM MONUMENT LOCATED ON THE CUL-DE-SAC OF CRAIGOWAN ROAD ELEVATION 1.57m.
  11. HOUSE AND BLDG CLEAR OF ANY REMOVED WATER SERVICES.

PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION

THE APPLICANT OR HIS REPRESENTATIVE SHALL HAVE ARRANGEMENTS TO INSPECT THE SITE OF THE WORK IN THE COMPANY OF A CRD WATER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION; IF WORK PROCEEDS WITHOUT PROPER INSPECTION, CRD WATER SERVICES WILL REQUIRE THE WORK TO BE EXPOSED FOR AN INSPECTION TO ACCEPTANCE.

NEW WATERWORKS SHALL NOT BE CONNECTED TO THE EXISTING CRD WATER SYSTEM UNTIL THE WORK IS DISINFECTED AND ACCEPTED IN WRITING BY CRD WATER SERVICES.

CHECK BEFORE YOU DIG

THE LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ARE SHOWN IN AN APPROXIMATE WAY ONLY AND HAVE NOT BEEN INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED BY THE OWNER OR ITS REPRESENTATIVE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE THE EXACT LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES BEFORE COMMENCING WORK AND AGREES TO BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGES WHICH OCCUR DUE TO THE CONTRACTOR'S FAILURE TO EXACTLY LOCATE AND PRESERVE ANY AND ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES.

WATER MAIN INSTALLATION NOTES

  1. CONSTRUCTION SHALL NOT PROCEED WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING CRD WATER SERVICES ACCEPTANCE OF THE DESIGN DRAWINGS AND A CONSTRUCTION PERMIT FROM MMHC.
  2. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REGISTERED WITH WORK SAFE BC.
  3. ALL WATERWORKS CONSTRUCTED AND MATERIALS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CRD WATER SERVICES ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS AND STANDARD DRAWINGS.
  4. WATER MAINS SHALL BE DUCTILE IRON CL52 OR PVC AWWA C900 CL150 IN ACCORDANCE WITH CRD WATER SERVICES SPECIFICATIONS, UNLESS SPECIFIED OTHERWISE ON THE DRAWINGS.
  5. PROVIDE A MINIMUM 0.8m COVER FOR WATER MAINS.
  6. WHERE WATER MAINS BELOW GRADE INSTALL A METALLIC DETECTABLE REINFORCED UNDERGROUND UTILITY WARNING TAPE. THE TAPE SHALL BE MINIMUM 150mm WIDE, METALLIC BLUE IN COLOUR AND SHALL BE LAID AT 0.3m DEPTH ABOVE THE TOP OF THE PIPE.
  7. MAINTAIN A MINIMUM OF 3m HORIZONTAL CLEAR SEPARATION AND 450mm CLEAR VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN WATER MAINS AND ALL SANITARY SEWERS/SERVICES AND DRAIN SEWERS/SERVICES, EXCEPT WHERE NOTED AND APPROVED BY CRD WATER SERVICES.
  8. FOR CROSSING OF EXISTING SEWERS, WHERE THE WATER MAIN DOES NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED 450mm VERTICAL SEPARATION, WRAP THE WATER MAIN WITH A PETROLATUM WRAP FOR 1.5m ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SEWER.
  9. WHERE A WATER MAIN CROSSES OVER A SEWER OR SEWER SERVICE CONNECTION WITH LESS THAN 0.45m BUT GREATER THAN 0.15m CLEAR VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN THE WATER MAIN AND THE SEWER, PROVIDE DUCTILE IRON AWWA CL52 PRESSURE PIPE FOR THE WATER MAIN AND WRAP JOINTS WITH AN APPROVED PRODUCT.
  10. WHERE EXISTING CONDITIONS PREVENT LESS THAN 0.15m CLEAR VERTICAL SEPARATION, THE APPLICANT SHALL OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM CRD WATER SERVICES FOR A VARIANCE.
  11. MAINTAIN A MINIMUM OF 1.0m HORIZONTAL CENTRE TO CENTRE AND 300mm CLEAR VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN WATER MAINS AND ELECTRICAL CONDUITS, GAS MAINS AND TELEPHONE CONDUITS EXCEPT WHERE NOTED AND APPROVED BY CRD WATER SERVICES.
  12. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONDUCT A PRESSURE TEST IN ACCORDANCE WITH CRD WATER SERVICES ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS AND IN THE PRESENCE OF CRD PERSONNEL.
  13. CONTRACTOR SHALL FLUSH AND DISINFECT WATER MAINS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AWWA C651 STANDARDS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH CRD WATER SERVICES WATER SAMPLES FOR ANALYSIS TO BE COLLECTED AND PROCESSED BY CRD; PROVIDE 24 HOURS NOTICE TO CRD.
  14. HYPERCHLORITE SOLUTIONS ARE NEUTRALIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT AND TOWN OF VIEW ROYAL BYLAWS.
  15. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE 24 HOURS NOTICE TO CRD WATER SERVICES PRIOR TO PROCESSING ANY WATERWORKS.
  16. CRD WATER SERVICES SHALL MAKE ALL CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING WATER MAINS AT APPLICANT'S EXPENSE; CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE 48 HOURS NOTICE TO CRD WATER SERVICES FOR WORK REQUIRED BY CRD WATER SERVICES FORCES.
  17. WHERE PRACTICAL SERVICE LINES AND METER BOXES SHALL BE INSTALLED TO FINISHED GRADE, OUTSIDE OF DRIVEWAYS OR PAVED AREAS.
  18. ANY TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT CONNECTION TO THE MAIN CRD WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM OR THE CRD WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM SHALL BE PERFORMED BY CRD WATER SERVICES PERSONNEL ONLY.
  19. FOR PVC PIPE, DEFLECTION AT THE JOINTS MAY BE MADE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS, ONLY DEFLECTION AT THE JOINT (REFER TO APPENDIX 4 CRD ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS). THE MAXIMUM DEFLECTION AT THE JOINT SHALL BE AS RECORDED BY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PIPE AND THE MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS. THE PIPE SHALL BE STRAIGHT IN THE TRENCH BEFORE MAKING THE DEFLECTION.
  20. NO BENDING OF PVC PIPE SHALL BE PERMITTED, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS.
  21. WHERE EXISTING CONDITIONS PROVIDE LESS THAN THE MINIMUM REQUIRED CLEARANCES, THE APPLICANT SHALL OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM CRD WATER SERVICES FOR A VARIANCE.
  22. ALL NEW WATER MAINS MUST PASS A PRESSURE TEST NOT GREATER THAN 200 PSI OR 1.5 TIMES THE WORKING PRESSURE OF THE PIPE.
  23. UPON COMPLETION OF BACKFILLING AND SATISFACTORY PRESSURE AND LEAKAGE TESTS, THE WATER MAINS SHALL BE FLUSHED WITH A MINIMUM VELOCITY OF 1.5 m/s TO REMOVE ANY DEBRIS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AWWA STANDARDS.
  24. DISINFECTION SHALL BE DONE BY CONTRACTOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH AWWA C651 STANDARDS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH MINISTRY OF HEALTH REQUIREMENTS.
  25. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT CRD WATER SERVICES A MINIMUM OF TWENTY-FOUR (24) HOURS IN ADVANCE OF DISINFECTING PROCEDURE TO SCHEDULE A SAMPLING TIME FOR BACTERIOLOGICAL SAMPLES TO BE TAKEN FOR TESTING BY CRD WATER SERVICES WATER QUALITY DIVISION.
