10. NEW BUSINESS

a) Capital Bike from the March 22, 2022 Joint Advisory Meeting

The Committee discussed Capital Bike’s presentation, specifically:

• the recent agreement signed by the Town and WATT Consulting Group for provision of an Active Transportation Network Plan;
• benefits of Dutch roundabouts within existing Town roundabouts;
• challenges to accommodate cycling infrastructure in View Royal due to varying road widths; and
• use of existing “crash data” available through ICBC to better understand problem areas. Town staff will forward the website link to ICBC crash site data to Advisory Committee members.

b) Draft Community Climate Action Strategy

Following a presentation by the Senior Planner at the March 22, 2022 Joint Advisory meeting, the Committee discussed BC Energy Step Code implementation and the current status, next steps, and significance of the Community Climate Action Strategy. The Committee felt the Community Climate Action Strategy warrants further in-depth discussion at a future special meeting.

CDAC-01-22 THAT the Committee recommend to Council that the Community Development Advisory Committee further discuss the Community Climate Action Strategy at a special meeting scheduled for April 26, 2022. CARRIED
