a) Council Orientation

  1. Verbal report from the Chief Administrative Officer and the Director of Engineering and Parks

The Director of Engineering and Parks gave a PowerPoint presentation to Council regarding the Engineering and Parks Department’s service delivery model and the bylaws that guide Council in decision-making.

Council and staff discussed the review schedule for Master Plans, climate change, road standards, infrastructure, tree protection, the Active Transportation Network Plan.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) reviewed policing within View Royal, noting the unit agreement, the RCMP building, and dispatch. He also outlined the service delivery model for recreation and the library.

The CAO highlighted current issues, noting the Official Community Plan, Helmcken Centennial Park Master Plan, various bylaws, BC Transit’s handyDART site on Watkiss Way, the legislatively required accessibility committee and plan, the Province’s proposed legislation related to housing, and camping in parks.
