COUNCIL AND COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE 2023 MEETING SCHEDULE

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT Council adopt the Council and Committee of the Whole 2023 meeting schedule.

PURPOSE:

To provide Council with the 2023 schedule for Council and the Committee of the Whole meetings.

DISCUSSION:

The proposed 2023 Council and Committee of the Whole meeting schedule is provided as Attachment “A”.

The Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities’ Convention is being held from Friday, April 14, 2023 to Sunday, April 16, 2023 in Nanaimo. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Annual Conference is set for Thursday, May 25, 2023 to Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Toronto. Neither of these events, should Council members wish to attend, conflict with the proposed 2023 Council and Committee of the Whole meeting schedule.

The Union of British Columbia Municipalities’ convention will be held Monday, September 18, 2023 to Friday, September 22, 2023 in Vancouver and conflicts with the second Council meeting in September 2023. Due to this conflict, staff are proposing that there only be the first Council meeting and the Committee of the Whole held in September.

In keeping with past practice over many years, the first proposed meeting in January is the Committee of the Whole (set for Tuesday, January 10, 2023) given that Town Hall will be closed for winter holidays and will re-open on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

CONCLUSION:

THAT Council adopt the Council and Committee of the Whole 2023 meeting schedule.
