REPORT OF THE 2022 GENERAL LOCAL ELECTIONS RESULTS
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the 2022 general local election results from the Chief Election Officer, provided pursuant to sections 158(1) and (2) of the Local Government Act, be received.
PURPOSE:
To provide the election results to the local government.
TIME CRITICAL:
This report must be submitted to the local government within thirty (30) days after the declaration of the official general location election results (declaration was made on October 19, 2022).
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Sections 158(1) and (2) of the Local Government Act describe some of the final proceedings that are to occur after a general local election. Specifically, the Chief Election Officer must provide – within thirty (30) days after the declaration of the official general local election results (declaration was made on October 19, 2022) – a report of the election results to the local government. This report must also include information on the ballot accounts for the election.
Accordingly, please find attached the following completed forms from the Chief Election Officer, Ken Schaalje:

Regarding polling statistics, the general local election had a 25.98% overall turnout rate (2,382 ballots cast out of approximately 9,169 eligible voters). 7.72% of the ballots cast (708 ballots) were during the two days of advance voting and the remaining 18.26% (1,674 ballots) on general voting day and mail-in.
CONCLUSION:
THAT the 2022 general local election results from the Chief Election Officer, provided pursuant to sections 158(1) and (2) of the Local Government Act, be received.
