Sponsorship of South Island Powwow on September 30th
Hello colleagues!
I hope you are all having a good August. I’m missing our monthly meeting this month and connecting with all of you.
I’m writing as a follow up to the work that we did earlier in the year, writing to all the South Island Nations asking how we might support them, working together on the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. As we know from correspondence received back from the Songhees Nation, Songhees is coordinating – along with the other South Island Nations – a regional powwow on September 30th to which all of us as mayors and our councils will be formally invited. The powwow will run from 1pm to 11pm at the Royal Athletic Park.
As noted in an earlier email, the City of Victoria has contributed the use of the park as well as up to $50,000.
This email is to introduce you all to Samantha at the Songhees Nation who is in the “to” line and who is responsible for gathering sponsorship for this event. I have also attached the sponsorship package with hope that each of your councils will vote to sponsor this event in some way. Please follow up directly with Samantha.
With my thanks as always and see you in September!
Lisa
