Evaluation of the Project, Event or Program

The organization reflected upon how best to make the most impact this year based on discussions with the Good Food Network Leadership team and other CRFAIR-led roundtables, and determined that rather than a one day large-scale, heavily scheduled event, good food efforts would be focused on smaller scale, multiple gatherings and focused roundtable discussions. Thus, in 2024, CRFAIR facilitated 3 Community Garden Roundtable meetings, 6 Good Food Network Leadership meetings, and a smaller and more intimate gathering on December 5, 2024. Jointly planned by CRFAIR and one of our partners, the Victoria Urban Food Table, the end of the year gathering was held at a local restaurant, attended by approximately 35 people from different organizations/sectors working towards a more equitable, diverse and sustainable food system. The more intimate gathering allowed for more informal networking of people and quality conversations regarding sustainable food systems, whilst cutting down on the expenditures of the originally planned large gathering for CRFAIR and the Good Food Network in an especially limited year of funding.

Evaluation of Direct/Indirect Benefits to the Town of View Royal

CRFAIR and the Good Food Network view food from a systemic and regional level. The food security of View Royal residents depends on farmlands, foodlands, and waters both within and beyond district borders. The Good Food Network and Community Garden roundtables are open to organizations, government, and residents from View Royal and across the Capital Region involved in food security initiatives. The discussions/gatherings facilitated by CRFAIR in 2024 allowed for focused and efficient knowledge sharing as well as strategic alignment of food security initiatives for collective impact.
