Support Letter: CRFAIR
Letter of support from the Capital Region Food and Agriculture Initiatives Roundtable for the Relmagine West Shore Program.
Date: November 1, 2024
To whom it may concern,
I am writing on behalf of the Capital Region Food and Agriculture Initiatives Roundtable to express our strong support for Relmagine West Shore and its contributions to enhancing food security and sustainability in our region. Relmagine West Shore has been making excellent headway on promoting food-related initiatives that align with the needs of our growing communities in Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, and View Royal. Their efforts are crucial in promoting local resilience, environmental stewardship, and community well-being, and fill a noted gap in services in the West Shore.
Relmagine West Shore has introduced a range of programs that empower community members to grow, process, and preserve food. Initiatives like the West Shore Seedy Saturday, the Get Canned! Workshop, and the Farm to Fork Map and Food Calendar initiatives help residents connect with local food sources, learn essential food preservation skills, and support the local economy. These programs address not only immediate food needs but also foster long-term sustainability, enabling residents to lower their environmental footprint and build food self-sufficiency.
With ongoing partnerships and collaborations, Relmagine West Shore is making significant strides in supporting a healthier, more self-sufficient community. Their programs offer accessible, practical solutions to help residents engage in sustainable practices. As they continue to expand, Relmagine West Shore’s work remains essential for addressing the challenges of climate adaptation, community food security, and affordability. We look forward to our collaborative work together and our efforts to link regional resources for local solutions.
We encourage support for the Relmagine West Shore Program as a vital partner in achieving our shared goals of healthy, sustainable and equitable food systems.
Thank you for your attention and support for these important community programs.
Sincerely,
Linda Geggie Executive Director, CRFAIR
