To Mayor Sid Tobias and City Councillors,
As a long time residents of View Royal we are writing to strongly oppose any reduction to the critical operating grants of CRD Arts organizations. We understand that there has been a proposal to reduce View Royal’s contribution from a Group 1 to Group 2 level, meaning an approximately $90, 000.00 cut to Arts funding.
This is very significant and damaging to the vital arts community of this city. We are so fortunate to live in a city that has a strong, vibrant and diverse art scene- only made possible by the love and willingness to support an activity vital to the human spirit and not necessarily profit making. Why would we deny the wisdom of those who felt the importance of the arts and saw the need to support what we all benefit from? We strongly hope that View Royal will continue to support the arts.
