Subject: It is time for a Performing Arts Theatre in the Western communities

Hello,

As long-time residents of the Westshore, we have witnessed remarkable growth in the community, particularly in sports and retail. However, there remains a significant gap in arts and culture infrastructure, notably the absence of a large theatre. The need for arts and culture facilities in the Westshore has been well documented, yet it remains unmet.

While our community is well-equipped with numerous sports facilities, it is crucial to recognize that arts and culture are equally important for our mental health and wellbeing. Our region has seen a substantial increase in families, highlighting the demand for diverse recreational options.

Personally, I grew up immersed in the world of dance and have become a dance teacher. Now, as I raise my daughters within the performing arts and dance community, we often find ourselves having to travel outside the Westshore for performances. This inconvenience underscores the urgent need for local arts facilities that can balance the existing sports infrastructure and provide opportunities for youth and adult artists alike.

A large theatre in the Westshore would not only foster local talent but also attract various shows and performances, enriching our community's cultural landscape. Additionally, our school district could host its own graduation ceremonies in such a venue, providing a fitting and memorable environment for our students' milestones.

It is time we invested in a space that celebrates and supports the fine arts, offering a well-rounded environment for all residents.

Thank you,
Julianne Sheffield
