Subject: Recognizing the Coronation of King Charles III

Dear Mayor & Council,

On May 6th, 2023 Canada's head of state will be crowned in the Coronation at Westminster Abbey - the first such occasion in 70 years. King Charles III has been a lifelong advocate of the environment and reconciliation with indigenous peoples and for this reason the colour green has been chosen in Canada to highlight this great event! On April 24th, North Saanich Council Adopted the following motion:

"The District of North Saanich will recognize the Coronation of King Charles III alongside other Canadian cities and across the commonwealth by backlighting the town hall in green on the weekend of May 6th. The district will also post information on their website and social media about this important event for Canadians to consider."

I hope you will consider making a similar statement or directive so that the people of View Royal, our youth in particular, will see and become aware of this event.

Your sincerely,

Ryan Trelford
