Mayor and Council,
The process to amend Zoning Bylaw #900 has been educational. A document was produced, a report was presented to Council. It seemed like quite a bit of effort was made to avoid the obvious fact that the error in the bylaw is simply a typographic error. Now it is time for the first, second and third reading of the proposed amendment.
I wonder if it might be more efficient to shorten the reporting requirements by empowering staff to identify typographic errors, report them as such, and clear up the matter with a greatly shortened report that does not require so much council time.
A further suggestion is to try to address more than one typo per amendment. For example, the typographic error on page 22, point 3.3.2 i) of the same bylaw (Zoning Bylaw #900) could have been included in the current amendment. Perhaps there are others as well.
